If Only

I went to the running store yesterday after a pretty rigorous three-mile run left my arch hurting. Basically, it hurt on the outside part, and when I took my shoe off, my foot was stuck in a cramped, pronated position. It was not very fun, but after icing it and taking a hot shower an hour later, it was unstuck and only painful on the outside. I told the people at the running store about it and they fitted my shoes with some nice inserts. It was pretty expensive, but I could feel the difference just standing in them. Inspired, I found new resolution: I was going to run five miles.

When I got home from the running store, it was probably six. I ate dinner (Special K cereal) and planned to run around eight-thirty or nine before JT came from selling his Jeep (the person backed out :( no good). Well, around seven, I couldn't wait any longer. There was a brand new trail to blaze, and I figured it had been thirty minutes since I ate, so I was good to go.

Apparently, I underestimated the trail. It was six miles instead of the five I'd planned. My muscles were aching, my arch was screaming; I had neglected to take a rest day in my earnestness to increase mileage. My digesting food gave me a stitch and prevented breathing. Plus, it was only seven and still ninety-eight degrees outside. So I pulled my mobile out of its strategic hiding place and phoned my dad. He was at the turnaround point in minutes and we had a nice little date to the gas station, where I purchased the biggest Dasani I have ever seen!

So I still got my three miles in, on a REST DAY, and got to spend some quality time with my dad. While my muscles are making me pay for my haste, JT was so nice and rolled my legs and feet with my new rolling stick while we watched Banditas. It was heavenly! I appreciate him.

Running makes me HUNGRY! I've probably gained two pounds in the last couple of weeks because of my increased running. I'm not too worried; everything will even out in time. It feels amazing!

TOP SECRET: The song that has been getting me through these long runs is a HANSON song! Who would have known? Their new stuff is actually pretty catchy. JT is also a closet Hanson fan. I might get in trouble if he finds out I posted that haha. A friend ridiculed me when she heard the song on one of my CDs and after listening to the verse and chorus, she said, "What are you doing?" and refused to let me change it. Don't knock it 'til you've listened to it!
